The politicians keep trying to force us back into a "tradwife" narrative, but only a handful of privileged (mostly) white folk can actually afford to survive with only the income from one job. So either you have 2 people working full time or 1 person working 2 full-time jobs. Both are shit ways to raise a child.

The US minimum wage calculation was based on a crude estimation that was never intended to be used for policymaking. At the time groceries cost 1/3 of the total household income. Now there are so many more costs that that leaves thousands of families too "rich" to get government assistance but too poor to afford to survive.
