Instead of spending hundreds of billions of dollars on #pipelines and subsidies for O&G, #Canada needs to be making generation investments in #RenewableEnergy
We could be investing in publicly owned solar panel and battery manufacturing, using materials sourced in Canada, which would not only meet all our energy needs in perpetuity but give us an exportable product for the foreseeable future. It would create more new jobs than we will lose when O&G inevitably dies AND if we make it publicly owned will provide public funds for social programming.

@RantingCanuck@mstdn.ca Further: distributed solar makes the whole power system more resilient; less susceptible to natural and human-caused disasters, reduces demand on existing infrastructure, and costs less! There’s really no good reason not to pursue this as a strategy unless the priority is to protect the profits of a handful of wealthy, politically-connected companies. Oh.
