- there were huge fire risks there. having just come from some forest fires a week earlier, i was really pleased that the farm owners were really educating everyone on the importance of avoiding fires and what things like fire beaters are and how to use them
- during the camp i learned that the fires in Scotland had gotten much worse and it made me really sad on an already emotional day

- hearing about the philosophy of the farm and how the owner used to be a teacher, and everything they do with kids from special needs schools..... it really hit me like a truck and couldn't stop myself crying a bit in the circle... then afterwards i walked away and [just] weeped my arse off. i think it was a moment where i really mourned myself leaving teaching, and i felt so angry about how i feel like i was forced to leave. but i was so happy to hear everything the owner was saying, and i was pleased that i had made it to this place. hannes caught me crying at the hills and walked with me and cheered me up
