Movies like The Beginning of the End feel bizarrely like a preliminary approach to that appalling televisual manifestation from the days of my youth: "COPS" the #TV show.
I'm sure that there's folks who are reasonably close to my age on the fediverse and can remember when "COPS" first pushed its way onto U.S. television screens.

U.S. #police are really into #media and they involve themselves deeply with all aspects of mainstream entertainment. They feel like heroes and they want their activities to be seen as heroic. As a result the cops aren't good at telling the difference between genuine suspense and drab police chatter about "suspects" and such. (cont'd)
