Mastodon is the right place for me to say this. FOSS software usually comes out with documentation that assumes too much. I have installed FreeBSD and Linux and managed mail servers and all kinds of online stuff. But I brute force through it, where most people haven't the time to experiment.
Error messages never give enough information, you have to go look at the line number, then figure out what happened. People don't have than kind of time!
Say what's wrong AND how to fix it.

I say this as someone who had to write error messages in French in 32 character strings in industrial device programming. We used to joke about "Pompe 3 foutue" (pump 3 is fucked)
