People have always lied about anything and everything. I wonder if the ways we lie have become more sophisticated (i.e. photoshop, deepfakes, cloning websites, etc.), or if it's the same stuff updated for technology and I'm just older. Reputation is probably still the most important way to avoid bullshit, but even then, folks trade away reputation if the payoff seems big enough.
