SMART capability lets us monitor underlying device health. It worked for both devices, but the available monitors were different. CF-SD bridge has Media_Wearout_Indicator, Cactus tracks Soft_ECC_Correction. The CF-SD bridge needs "smartctl -T permissive" as it's not recognised. So there is no one size fits all smartd config.

    For TRIM/UNMAP, to efficiently free blocks back to the flash controller from the operating system for re-use to assist wear-levelling to prolong NAND flash longevity. Probed and found the capability on both but not tested or exercised yet. The baseline is LBPWS for UNMAP in the SCSI emulation which both support, although Linux's pure-ATA instrumentation command hdparm does not report it.
