If the device is encrypted and password protected, in *most* but not all jurisdictions, you can't be forced to give up the password, but they can try to crack it and your only legal recourse to prevent that is the courts. Wiping the device before you get on the plane or whatever is also fine.
It's wiping the device as a direct response to them taking/demanding it that is crossing the line legally speaking.
And like I've said elsewhere, if you want to be the test case for a lawyer trying to argue otherwise, nobody is going to stop you. But your odds of success are low enough I doubt anyone with enough brain cells to pass the bar exam is going to recommend it. Poking the bear is not something that ends well.

The whole point now is to "prove" that your won't disagree with the fascist government Which is also the reason one must provide access to social media accounts and any criminal stupid enough to post his or her deeds there should definitely be locked up. But that's not what this is about and we all know it. It's also not about the "children" or y'all need to definitely lock up your Epstein president.
