@joepie91@fedi.slightly.tech This is hard to say for me, as the way that I remember it is that it really was up to the distro on when to adopt it. Fedora (which has been my distro of choice for a few years now, although if they go too much into the AI direction that might change) was one of the first to go all in, and went that way years before others did. But that also fit Fedora's progressive attitude. And afaik, a lot of issues were hammered out because Fedora made it the default so early in its life.
So it definitely didn't feel super coordinated to me, but I'm not super known for my great memory, so I could be very wrong. :)

@ainmosni@social.ainmosni.eu Fedora in a lot of ways is (or at least, was) meant to be a testbed for new technical decisions in RHEL, even though that was never very clearly communicated to end users, so it makes sense that it would be the first major one to adopt it. But AFAIK there were already a lot of backroom conversations between distro maintainers at that time - with 'coordinated rollout' I don't so much mean that they all rolled it out at the same time, as that they were in constant contact with each other and learning from each other's experiences to figure out when to make the call themselves. It's less about the schedule and more about the social connections :)
