I remember the day I realized that, at light speed, time dilation is infinite, so when a photon extinguishes on my retina as I'm looking at the Andromeda galaxy, I know that it traveled 2.5 million years to get here, but from its own perspective, literally no time has passed.
For some reason, I was filled with intense sadness at that realization.
That was the same sadness that I felt when Hodor finally realized the sole purpose of his life, determined in the past by then-future events.
