@tragivictoria@mastodon.com.pl GNOME doesn't seem to respect the categories either? Some just don't exist at all in GNOME Shell, but do appear in the Alacarte, for instance.
It's incredibly frustrating to deal with.

@thomholwerda@exquisite.social well, less not respect and more we don't show them. App menu extension, part of GNOME Classic, shows them for example. Would be cool if someone proposed amendment to .desktop file spec, but I am not holding my breath, since nobody really thinks of it as a high priority
