@eclecticpassions@fosstodon.org I don't have a more eloquent explanation that Codeberg's own post, but I do have:
- hours spent defending my own server instead of creative pursuits.
- legacy GitHub projects where it's no longer worth sifting through slop to find the genuine PRs.
- the alienation of trying to exchange ideas with other developers and realizing I'm talking to a bot.
FOSS in 2026 is miserable, and Codeberg is taking positive action to fix it.

@ross@social.rossabaker.com That makes sense. Thanks for sharing your views on this depressing issue indeed... It makes me scared to try self hosting a git forge or other public facing services because I don't know enough on how to protect a server from being scraped.
