I know this is talking about something people are already using, but Clipman, the clipboard manager and synchronizer by @FreakyFwoof@universeodon.com is just stunning. I'm sure people will say that it does nothing you couldn't do on your own, I mean I did the same with a clip.txt in a shared folder, but that's not the point. Particularly for those of us with virtual and physical machines, it's an install once, think about never sort of thing. I don't have to copy my text to clip.txt, remember whether I did it or not, make sure I didn't overwrite by accident, make sure I saved if I didn't close notepad... The whole thing just doesn't need to be thought about anymore, it just works. This is leaving aside the history, which is more of a big deal than I thought it would be. The sync across machines, though, is a serious improvement to the use of the machine, it's like I now have one big clipboard over my entire network. Anyone who uses many devices absolutely has to use this, and anyone who even uses one machine would probably benefit from it significantly. https://github.com/OnjLouis/Clipman

  • @techsinger@tweesecake.social @FreakyFwoof@universeodon.com I'm a bit confused with regard to the virtual machines bit. When I copy something to the clipboard in either machine, I can easily copy it to the other i.e. from virtual to physical, because it carries over between the two. As for the rest, though, that would certainly be an improvement. Does it copy files as well, or just text? If it works with files, that is a huge deal!

  • @techsinger@tweesecake.social Oh, trust me, I'm currently using it on just one machine and I can tell you I benefit from it enormously. Prior to Clipman, I used Ditto and really loved it. It had similar features and it took me a bit of time to switch from Ditto to Clipman but I eventually did, as I think Clipman takes things to a whole new level. Not to mention that it's being updated frequently and Andre is very receptive to feedback. I make regular use of clipboard entries and Clipman is a tool I would not want to be without. Anyone who thinks that the clipboard is this boring thing that's necessary for cut, copy and paste functions will never look at the clipboard the same way after getting to know this program.

@techsinger@tweesecake.social @FreakyFwoof@universeodon.com I use one machine and find the clipboard history useful.
