Mind you, chip fabs are insanely bad for the environment; it would be a very tough sell. The problem, of course, is buildout. No matter who it is, they're not going to be rolling out 10 nm GDDR6 in anything approaching a useful time frame.

The comment on Indigenous nations was more a general remark about a potential means to prevent privatizations in Canada. (It could also be some semblance of recompense, and would presumably lead to more sustainable governance, but those are other topics.) I don’t actually think Canada would make a chip fab: not while neoliberal conservative “Liberal” Carney has #EvanSoloman, sycophant to the slop lords, appointed as Minister of Slop and Digital Disemployment. However, the #EU might make their own chip fab. There’s a bit more reality being imposed on that government. Mine’s still convinced that Microsoft and Palantir are trustworthy, but I included mention of Canada for completeness, as it does at least have the means, even if not the will.
