forester had no goal other than to maintain a weird fucking subculture of men (he was weird as fuck about women) riding bicycles for no other purpose than going fast on extremely easy terrain. he spent decades actively sabotaging American utility and commuter bicycling, safety, laws, infrastructure, and culture in service of that goal. and you’re telling him that one of those piece of shit (his opinion stated as fact) utility bikes can go fast now with an electric motor? ban it. this cannot stand.

“Well, in my Opinion”, forester would say in the exact voice of someone who steals someone else’s lunch from the office fridge, “a bicycle with a motor isn’t a bicycle at all. and in fact I’m suing so that these `computer bicycles` will need to be registered as the cars they, in fact, are. There’s simply no room on American streets for these miniature cars alongside real road bicycles.” and he would finish that sentence as wetly as possible, and then his lawsuit would succeed and the judge would give him a gold metal that says “good boy” on it because the US doesn’t make any sense
