@grammasaurus@mastodon.social @ascentale@sfba.social @bikenite@fedigroups.social no problem, if you don’t need to ride your bike right away it helps if you let the patched tube sit overnight without air so that the glue has time to cure. It will hold air much better that way, but if you’re in a pinch (eg out on a ride away from home) it’s fine to patch it and put air in after the patch is visibly dry. In wet conditions you can use a lighter to help the glue dry sooner, just be careful since the glue is flammable. #bikeNite #bikeTooter

@clhenrick@indieweb.social @grammasaurus@mastodon.social @ascentale@sfba.social @bikenite@fedigroups.social If I can, I'll let the patch cure overnight, but I let it cure, fully inflated, installed in a tyre. My thinking is: 1: the patch and glue will be curing in the curved, expanded shape where they'll be in use, so if there is any flexibility issues, they'll be preemptively addressed. 2: the inflation presses the patch to the tube nice and evenly 3: if there's a problem with the patch, or glue, or another puncture you didn't notice, you know because the tube didn't hold pressure overnight. Better to find this out before putting the patch to the test on a real ride.
