Michael Nesmith: And the Hits Just Keep On Comin’ (RCA LSP-4695, 1972)
Just Nez (guitars) and Red Rhodes (pedal steel) and it’s perfect. Contains a belated studio recording of “Different Drum” eight years after he wrote it and five years after the Stone Poneys had a big hit with it.

Mickey Newbury: Frisco Mabel Joy (Elektra EKS-74107, 1971) A songwriter’s songwriter, he’s namechecked in “Luckenbach, Texas” and his stuff was reissued by Drag City in 2011.
