I'm not a fundamentalist. I don't believe every word of the Bible is written by God, is moral or true. Trump claims to be a Christian fundamentalist. Yahoos like him see the Bible say "eye for an eye" and think "Bible says to mutilate in revenge, so let's fuck those ______ up 20 times more!"
Actually MY Bible says 'only to the monetary value of your loss.'
HIS Bible says 'turn the other cheek.'

@Osteopenia_Powers@newsie.social There are several examples of the death penalty in both the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament. Women committing adultery, murder, witchcraft, and such. But, from my academic understanding, there are also some where the Bible calls for the death penalty, but, it's unclear if that was actually practiced. Much of the law is very similar to modern property law and is instructive as to what was considered who's property.
