Well good news! Just had a follow up on the rib fracture and apparently all the stuff online is wrong? He estimates four to six weeks for symptom free recovery. Not great but also significantly less terrible than what I was worrying.

My wee dog Lucky is a particularly needy and demanding little furbeast and is really struggling with my injury. No walks for nearly 2 weeks and cuddles are severely limited. First I was afraid he might jostle my rib. But I'm also still really bruised so lap cuddles are a no. I've tried situating him in my lap in a way that doesn't hurt my bruises but he absolutely refuses to accommodate my needs and tries to switch to his preferred position. Poor guy doesn't know what to do with himself. :(
