Anyway he's now sulking in his crate because I couldn't cuddle him exactly the way he wanted.

Wearing a lidocaine patch (prescription strength!) to help with some weird, worsening rib pain. And I'm reminded of an experience a couple years ago at the dentist: The hygienist was giving me lidocaine injections in advance of a procedure and my heart started racing like crazy. When I mentioned this to her, she said "Yes lidocaine can cause that to 'men of a certain age'". I laughed at the phrasing and said "you mean "old"? She stammered a bit and said something like "I mean men over 40."
