Tariffs to combat the use of forced labor? Like our massive USian prison labor system that does everything it can to trap people into lifelong incarceration to keep the free labor running? Huh.

@djsundog@fedi.reclaim.technology I don't have a problem with restitution-related work that's related to the crime, and helps compensate society with your labour. If you get caught doing graffiti, congratulations, you get to scrub it off every wall on the block where you got caught, for 6 months or a year. (So you understand how frustrating it is to have someone tag what you just cleaned.) You stole a car? Now you get to learn how to maintain & repair cars, and repair low-income people's cars -- so you see how important vehicles are to some people's lives. For violent stuff? You're making furniture for schools in the prison shop. I don't buy this BS about putting prisoners to work for corporations -- that's essentially slavery.
