Might be worth looking into a used Pixel and running Graphene. I personally haven't had issues and it works pretty well with my banking app. True, I can't use something like Google Wallet, but no loss personally.
You can get Pixel and pretty decent prices used, even the newer ones. I would say to look at the A models as they tend to be on the cheaper side. And they are not too bad to repair, fiddly, but certainly not impossible.

@objectrecycler@woof.tech @kabel42@polymaths.social unfortunately GrapheneOS doesnt provide eternal support for older Pixels. i bought mine used ('tis 7A) and 'tis an old model which will soon be unsupported. i personally was looking at fairphones for the future to flash something like LineageOS there if available, but cant be sure . like, till my Pixel will be supported by GrapheneOS am totally ok with it. then i prolly will flash LineageOS if it'll work. then i might try anything else which will support it or fiddle and write my own. but am not gonna turn it into e-waste, even if i'll have to buy a new phone (hope i wont, i hate buying new tech).
