One of the things I'm occasionally sad about is that it's very hard to read Doric out loud. Doric is a very hard thing for me to consciously reach for. When I speak to another Doric speaker it unlocks as my husband can attest to. It was my mither tounge. It was the conversation I had with my Grannie. I lost it because in primary school we were told we were nae spiking proper English. It was the comfort of hame. Even now when I come across it, there's emotion that someone still spiks it.
