@mcnado@mstdn.social And yet nothing seems to be able to stop him or his unpopular policies. If he rules with impunity, that's a dictatorship. The midterms will be telling. They will either happen and instigate change, or the Republicans and Trump will find a way to disrupt, nullify, or corrupt them so as to make them ineffective.

@aburtch@shakedown.social @mcnado@mstdn.social My concern is the number of people - on here, cause I don't look many other places for social stuff - whose chosen verbiage seems to reflect a belief that that is a matter of "if" they prevent the elections. The GOP has had gerrymandering, the southern strategy, etc, they've had corruption as their only means of remaining in existence for decades. If you strip away the branding and look at popularity of policies and compare them to the GOP's platform, it is clear to anyone with a brain that they have already corrupted the elections process, but Usians are a bunch of boiling frogs. You all should have been joining Occupy. You all should have been fighting in Seattle in 99. There has always been an opportunity to correct the white supremacist course of your nation. There is today. But it sure ain't in the ballot box, anymore. You are going to be shocked, shocked! at how little the world is going to care when Trump is long gone, but you are all living in coops with these chickens you have sent out to completely fuck over the entire world. Trump didn't come and turn the whole country over and alter reality. Trump brought reality into sharp focus. He has instigated a completely global shift, my entire country is ready to take up arms against our lifelong neighbour. I live in the country, we talk insurgency when I am around rednecks. No man has that power - it takes a nation of millions to amass the power and then go sleep at the wheel.
