Hey people who know Montreal, if you were gonna stay in Montreal with your partner for a fall weekend, and you'd mostly be intending to get around by transit, where in the city (that there are hotels) do you think would be a good place to stay? Assume we're mostly interested in foodie kinds of things, as well as like.. Nice places to walk around outside. We'd consider renting bikes too. Not so much outright full on tourist traps. Boosts welcome! #montreal

@megmac@social.treehouse.systems Montréal is quite dense. If you want to stay where the hotels are, you'll ultimately be near tourist traps - either downtown or Old Port. I would recommend the Old Port because that's the most European/old style part. The good news is that you'll be near the metro's orange line and that can get you quickly to the Plateau and Mile-end neighbourhoods where a lot of foodie things are found. I'd also recommend Little Italy/Petite-Patrie which are just a bit further up St-Laurent Blvd.

@megmac@social.treehouse.systems Parc Lafontaine is very pretty in fall. There's a nice small hotel here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/bccRR1fJh4m32jM59 Avenue Mont Royal is fun and interesting, and the Mont Royal metro station is about a 15 minute walk away. The metro can take you downtown or to the old town. The eponymous Mount Royal is visible from the park and the auberge; it's a great day trip, and another great place to see fall colours.

@megmac@social.treehouse.systems I’ll check with my partner as we got a nice little place in old Montreal right by transit but also had a kitchen so we saved on breakfast. She does all the booking and I can’t remember the name. :)
