@lunareclipse@snug.moe people use AI because they're lazy and using AI is easier than writing code yourself

@mjdxp@labyrinth.zone @lunareclipse@snug.moe I personally think it’s a little reductive to owe it all up to laziness. The place I work at has doubled down so incredibly much on AI. I despise doing any amount of code review because 90% of what my coworkers produce is vibe coded slop. Doing my life’s passion has become a horrible drag there. I refuse to use AI for whatever I produce, this means that for large scale development I sometimes require a few weeks, sometimes months to make a functional product. I got reprimanded by the team lead for “taking too much time to implement features/applications”. We are talking like full scale complex implementations within a few weeks mind you. He keeps egging me on to “just use a little more AI. Just use the company provided Claude tokens to get things done faster”. He also keeps comparing me to other coworkers who can quickly vibe code some slop together quickly. And completely devalues my work and effort in the process. I personally think some people are genuinely too lazy or uninterested to actually write code. But I also think a measurable amount of people are cracking and breaking under the idiotic pressure in capitalism to constantly produce within unrealistic unreasonable timeframes. And be constantly compared only by “productivity” however unethical and terrible the output may be.
