Hm, honest Linux question because I honestly don't know any better... I've heard that there are (at least) two types of distros / releases: Rolling Release and Standard Release. And, as far as I know, Arch (and those that are based on Arch) are the rolling type. Rolling was for faster updates, if I remember correctly? Now, what I've heard is that if you don't update your rolling release somewhat regularly, then you will get your OS fucked after waiting too long. (Meaning you can't easily update anymore.) Is that actually (still) true? #linux

    @SteffoSpieler@drachen.club I guess "it depends". The problem with e.g. Arch is, sometimes they decide to package stuff differently, merging or splitting packages. That's why you should monitor the Arch news website, or use tools such as informant. If you wait, say, a year with updating that updating then might be a lot of manual work.
