@datarama@hachyderm.io I still think that, here in socialist Europe, they won't turn the entire middle class out on the streets. That's not the way we do things this side of the Atlantic.
And, even on a basic income, you can have indoor trees.
I'm serious - something like a YouTube/Patreon channel of practical bonsai might well provide an appreciative audience (and income stream) in that world.

@EI3JDB@mastodon.radio even assuming the social system here doesn't collapse (which it will): if i become and remain unemployed for more than two years, i can no longer access the union unemployment fund, and then i *will* lose my home.

@EI3JDB@mastodon.radio i would be absolutely unable to compete with any of the existing names in that space. i have a bunch of little trees in a windowsill; more serious bonsai artists have large outdoor and/or greenhouse setups. socialist Europe isn't going to remain very socialist when all the money from the defunct middle class goes to American oligarchs
