We simply have forgotten so many things. Even if we want, we would have to reinvent a lot. We still have some of the workers and engineers alive today, but not for very much longer. Not much time to save and document as much as possible.

@littlealex@infosec.exchange @forty2@oldbytes.space Yeah it feels like such a loss. Cassette futurism is far and away my favorite aesthetic. It seemed inevitable back in the day, and one could argue the fidelity you get out of a modern high res audio player and even a basic 1080p modern TV is miles better than anything we had back then, and I’m glad for that. But man there is just something so special, that we lost when it comes to physical media and the devices we used to play them.
