The most common misunderstanding I see in privacy focused forums and videos is the mix-up of security, privacy and misunderstanding of open-source in general. Also threat modeling mistakes. I see some people take extreme measures in one way but negating it in another. To resolve this I'm working on an explanatory guide to security and privacy as well as a general "privacy and security recommendation for dummies".
