Whether it is white supremacists denying the evils of slavery, Holocaust deniers, Russians whitewashing Stalin or those trying to downplay the murderous waves of Mao's policies, I find the sin of rewriting history to serve ideology is maybe the worst intellectual sin of all time. Mostly because it unforgivably ignores the testimony of lived experience.
That, to me, is beyond contempt.

So, I get it, right now very few people have the bandwidth to get upset that some asshole is denying the extent of the Khmer Rouge genocide in Cambodia 50 years ago, but it is the same fucking mindset as the people questioning the number of dead in Gaza right now. It is a despicable practice that simply leads to more killing.
