Today my class (at university) were talking about centralisation of power in the digital economy.
1. Many students don't know what a browser is, or how to find out which search engine they use.
2. Most students can work out which operating system they have.
3. One student told me that I "seem like the sort" when I said I use linux.

On the one hand teaching does feel a bit like squeezing blood from a stone right now. One the other hand one of my students asked if I did a blowout this morning, because she thought my hair looked great. I told her that actually I just washed it and then slept on it and then woke up and immediately engaged in parenting chaos, but the validation is nice.

@scroeser@kolektiva.social Seems that related to 1), when they are using the browser (unknowingly), they don't know what is the difference of entering a website's address and searching for it. And that's because google originally purposefully mixed those two damn things in the UI.
