At 500ppm, CO2 begins to have measurable impact on human cognition. We're almost there. But it also means there's *no margin any more*. Any closed room now quickly results in CO2 issues in humans. It's not a smooth, linear thing—we hit a point where it's a huge problem all of a sudden, with big consequences.

The same with plot of global temperatures. Or even the local progression, notably Europe, in particular France. Summer record-highs have been creeping consistently beyond 40C. This is killing a *lot* of people. But it's not some "linear" thing. Again, the same mistake. You hit that temperature, and every degree exponentially kills more people. Not even exponential, really, because there's a point where basically everyone not in climate controlled environment dies. We're getting there.

@jripley@mastodon.social It's slightly worse than that. Those readings are taken at 4000m. At sea level there's more CO2. As someone who has never driven a car in their 60 years, it's angering.

@jripley@mastodon.social It gets even more terrifying if you consider the affected nature. Not many animals or plants are heatresistant above a certain "used" bandwidth of temperature. Not even #camels The ecosystems of oceans are already reacting, not only bc decreasing oxygene level in seawater. They are more fragile than ecosystems on land. #corals #krill ... If that base of foodchains starts to collapse ... ...as we can already notice following certain (science) reports.😱
