@mekkaokereke@hachyderm.io Sometimes learning about the racist assholes who did terrible things in other countries gives me a whole new reason to want to learn about and fight the ones who did that stuff where I live

They also had get-rich-quick by any means available, The people where I'm at just now, on the far end of the globe from Africa, Argentina , and America , had the big players invest in sailing ships , the slave-trade and sugar. Shang-haiing boys, spreading syphilis and defrauding banks. It happened. They were "the pillars of society". They were rotten. @mekkaokereke@hachyderm.io

The attitudes, ideas, and movements that created our residential schools are still around, still animating people and policy, still doing their destructive work; most often hiding behind their veneer of do-good-ism, righteous excuses, and other shitty framing. At home is definitely the best place to bring the fight. @mekkaokereke@hachyderm.io
