RE: https://seattle.pink/@mxchara/116966886921480461 I have begun to suspect very evil things indeed about Clive Staples Lewis, and that reminds of me of why I've become perhaps too enamoured of writing in public, or the public-facing Internet anyway: I feel that it's a corrective force upon myself. I don't know very many people personally in whom I feel that I can talk about the wildest and woolliest aspects of my life, not the least because I've had such a bizarrely mixed bag of experiences. It's not unique; I suspect there's a lot more triple-majors out there than you might expect, for example. But anyone who's been unusually active or peripatetic has their own bag of experiences and sometimes that means...not a lot of folks wind up on the same wavelengths as I frequent. Hence I decided a long while back that there was value in simply speaking aloud. (cont'd)

That's not an uncommon thing either. Oscar Wilde, a hero of mine kinda (in the same "kinda" way as another problematical pop idol, David Bowie) was known as a dandy and a witty man-about-town before he got to writing. But I suspect that any such person, if they feel themselves to be good enough with words and storytelling, eventually gets to wondering if they really shouldn't be investing in blank paper and a nice pen or a nifty typewriter. I confess I have yet to feel as if the computer is quite the tool for writing. Partly though that's the influence of folks in our headspace, or folks dropping in for a visit, for whom a typewriter is high technology. I think Bill Lee would rather face the murder charge than deal with what a computer looks like in Interzone. The typewriters are bad enough. (cont'd)
