@andycarolan@social.lol 100%. Other forms of social media have set poor expectations regarding engagement and reach because of their algorithms. Here, we *are* the algorithm! But that also means that we’re going to get only as much as we put in, from a social standpoint.

@andycarolan@social.lol In all fairness, some people just want to read "news & views". Not everyone has something to say (yes, I swear) and in that case I'm glad they just read. But of course this is a social network and being social is definitely a part of it.

@andycarolan@social.lol It's the beauty of it, I think. It's curated. You choose what you are exposed to. It's not shoved in your face. I do think in a world where things get shoved in your face it's easier to get exposure to others - but it's so stressful haha. I much rather enjoy the slow build, the brick by brick, and the gradual ramp up of engagement I've had with the great people of the Fediverse!
