@abucci @toriver@mas.to I think "just fork is" is often a lazy response to systemic issues. But for Codeberg people could also actively get involved to shape policy and help managing the infrastructure. But ofc that's a lot more effort than freeloading and hoping someone else does the work 🙈

@gedankenstuecke@scholar.social I think everyone would've been ok with it if it actually had been about "slop" and "freeloaders". As it is the new policy bans some of my FOSS projects and I'm quite certain my donations have covered my "freeloading" and that the code isn't "sloppy". But yes, indeed, personally I have my own Forgejo instance and will just move there instead. It's sad though - I sponsored Codeberg since I wanted to support a european instance where FOSS projects could reside instead of on Github. I have a nagging suspicion that many of the persons cheering this ToU change on have no idea how many FOSS projects today use LLM tooling. @abucci @toriver@mas.to

@gedankenstuecke@scholar.social Oh yes, besides lazy "just fork it" is an insult to the intelligence. It's like telling someone who has a fully-functioning farm with reliable harvests that they should give up that farm in exchange for a single harvest. "Just fork it" is in that way a power play. @toriver@mas.to
