Almost like he wants another 9-11 type attack, which he thinks he will then be able to seize extra powers as a result of such an attack. The Reichstag may have been fire, but I don't think a reboot will work as he hopes.   • @davidaugust@mastodon.online Of course, George W. Bush’s approval rating was slightly above 50% before 9/11. Afterwards, his rating surged to 90%, still the highest recorded job approval rating for any US president, despite his administration's wide-ranging incompetence. History shows the public will rally around any government if the nation is under attack - and the Trump administration has proved itself to be ruthless enough to use any tactic to stay in power.
