@fmn@mastodon.social @skyblitz@mstdn.social @tante@tldr.nettime.org @Codeberg@social.anoxinon.de i respect everyone's opinion or standpoint, just trying to understand why technology like AI can not have an assisting/supporting role in coding (with proper guardrails, principles, rules etc.), the same discussion is going for written texts and other content by the way , so it is a broad subject.

    @ErikJonker@mastodon.social My primary issue is not its use, it's about its ethics. Find me an ethically trained model, that are cheap/environmently friendly to run, doesn't enable droves of frustrating to review PRs, actually produces code that's not just brute force, and isn't just a flat out attempt to seize the means of software production by big tech. If you can find that, we can talk about its actual use, until then, any use of it is steering our industry in an even sadder direction than it already was on.
