@Tutanota@mastodon.social This may well cause significant issues for trans citizens, especially if AI is involved with the face scans, as it could well cause false failures is ID Verification. I had just this issue with changing Krankenkasse in Germany due to being trans/inter which resulted in my ID photos being repeatedly rejected. And this is BEFORE we get to the dysphoria that many gender non conforming people feel about such systems.

@alexadeswift@lgbtqia.space @Tutanota@mastodon.social It's even more fun when you're a migrant from a transphobic country who couldn't yet naturalize! You just get locked out of all financial services due to ID mismatch, and soon apparently out of all social media, too 🙈 I'd know.... *sigh*

@alexadeswift@lgbtqia.space @Tutanota@mastodon.social yeah, when my Krankenkasse asked for a new picture as part of giving me a new card with my newly changed name, the online self service rejected my picture. I had to spend €19 for professional photographs and €1 on physically mailing them to the Krankenkasse to get the card. €20 wasted because a cisnormative system thinks it's somehow a good idea to validate people's faces.
