Had a screening call today about adopting a “career change” dog from the regional guide dog organization.
They have a somewhat consistent need to place dogs that are not suited to being full time guide dogs and you can put your name on the list to adopt them when they “change careers” / flunk out.
That’s how we got our last pup and she’s been the absolute best.

The org is understandably a little picky about who and how they place the dogs. These pups have been trained and socialized expecting their humans to be alongside them 24/7 and they’ve never been to a dog park, nor even off leash. Up until very recently these dogs had never even played with a ball, and they often need time and training to be able to adapt to life as a family dog.
