But the letter raises a broader question: why do democratic leaders continue to depend on communication infrastructure controlled by a billionaire who can use that power against them? What's even more troubling is that viable alternatives like Mastodon and Eurosky already exist, with millions of people they could reach. Yet our political leaders continue to reinforce their dependence on X rather than help strengthen these European alternatives.
