I'm so bored. Occasional spooky architecture doesn't make up for lack of plot.
Mesmerism as mind control magic, but that still goes on today, I just rewatched an X-Files with that.
Dream sequences with vaseline & gauze over the lens. I prefer David Lynch's way of Dutch camera angling, but otherwise SHARP dreams.
Wait, are there maids? The abbey is covered in cobwebs & neglect.
