UPDATE: OK, I talked to my neighbors this evening:
--No, they were NOT expecting a drone to show up at their house today, nor did they know it had happened until I told them about it.
--They *did* confirm having seen Amazon drones delivering things to other neighbors from time to time.

--I looked up an Amazon drone pic and it looks pretty close to what I saw this morning, so I think I can safely conclude that's what it was. --Possible "innocent" explanation: The drone was misrouted to the wrong house, paused & corrected its trajectory (or returned to base to be rerouted).
