I grabbed another 7420 that was pretty grody. Took it apart after my break, removed the heatsink, and it was also solid. Almost stuck like cheap glue.
I ran a 'before' Geekbench test, and it was ~200 points lower for the single-core score, but the multi-core score was right about on par with the others.
Gonna run an 'after' test on this machine once I get it re-assembled. Just gotta re-connect a few more things and re-install the battery.

Also, who the fuck solders the WLAN NIC to the board? That's Apple levels of bullshit. I saw that on the X1 Carbon 7th gen too, and was quite disappointed. :( Like, if you have room for an M.2 stick, you can probably fit a WLAN card slot, hell, even RAM slots on the board.
