@fabio@manganiello.eu This is complicated in Israel’s case because they are surrounded by Arabized states, none of which are democracies. They can be a Jewish state or they can just give up on democracy altogether and likely consign their people to subjugation and reprisals as well.

@KerryMitchell@mastodon.social @fabio@manganiello.eu "Arabised" as if there was a genocide of local ethnic groups and forced usage of Arabic as the lingua franca, with no agency from the locals to use it. That term is the European/Western empire projecting its own crimes against humanity onto the region, assuming there was never a native group of people in that region exercising their own agency to use the language.
