One of the most frustrating discoveries over the last couple years is how much of our critical small tech and open source technologies are apparently run by breathtakingly amoral or outright fascist leaders. Between Mullvad, Brave, Firefox, Kagi, and Proton, it's hard to find alternatives to big tech that we can trust to keep us safe against rising mass surveillance and authoritarianism. I'm certain these projects are staffed by exceptionally talented and earnest individuals working in good faith, but how do you balance that against founders and CEOs that are actively supporting invasive AI or rising fascism or both?

@DaveMWilburn@infosec.exchange I assume the same way most of us have to with the food industry. Pick your battles and do what you can but don't feel guilt for doing what you have to do just because some rich assholes rigged the systems so they always profit. For now. :guillotine:
