I imagine this is a niche problem. It's certainly the only work I recall doing where I needed to worry about Bible copyrights. That said, I did find a possible solution. The MLV copyright policy is extremely reasonable.
I have to find out whether the verses themselves are going to work for what I'm doing but this is a pretty good sign.

1 Corinthians 14:20 (MLV) Brethren, do not become children in your mindsets (but be infants in malice), but become mature in your mindsets.(Note: If this translation works the same way KJV does, the italics are words that are added to make the sentence make sense in English.) This is just appallingly bad. The KJV is also bad but leaps and bounds better.Brethren, do not become children in sense. But in malice be children: and in sense be perfect.By bad in this specific moment, I mean it's horrendous prose. No one would ever get either as a tattoo but the KJV is certainly less clunky.
