Hear me out: White and blue make _terrible_ indicator LEDs. Not just because those are pretty terrible colors for light you're gonna have on/flashing all the time, though that certainly is true. But also because they dim _orders of magnitude_ faster than red or green indicator LEDs. So eg on laptops and keyboards where you commonly have some lights that are on almost all the time and other lights that are only sometimes on (eg numlock vs scroll lock, or power vs charging), then after only like a year, when multiple lights are on, they'll be of wildly different brightnesses, and it drives me absolutely bonkers. Meanwhile I've had green LEDs that have had _decades_ of use that are barely dimmer than their counterparts which are only sometimes on.
