a fandom observation
when i was a teen, if you were into the beatles like me, it's because you enjoyed the music first, like that was the hook, which would then grow into learning & appreciating all the other things we know & love about them.
these days on tumblr i notice more & more fans showing up **without having listened** to any Beatles music, asking what the band & fandom are about as if they're deciding whether to join. asking where to start listening, like which songs?

and it's really weird and aesthetic and devoid of substance and disconnected from any meaning the beatles originally intended the gen Zers especially will come in & make complaints? like "ew this fandom is too sexual" except they call it "corn" and i... look, if you're at the point of self-censoring sexy words, the beatles are not for you!! stop trying to make them be?? algorithms have turned fandoms into shoe shopping & it's fucking annoying.
